Veterans Outreach

The senior managers of Tank Partners have a tradition of supporting our military, even going so far as developing a program named Project Kabul that supported our troops in Afghanistan and helped girls in Afghanistan attend school. Project Kabul resulted in the building of two girl’s schools and over 10,000 girls attending school for the first time. During Project Kabul, Tank Partners' current President, Danton Townsend, formed a close friendship with U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Mike Smith who received, distributed, and built the schools on Tank Partners behalf. The success of Project Kabul led Danton to wonder if he could do more for our veterans here in the United States. After Project Kabul was completed the friendship formed between Danton and LTC Michael Smith continued and led to Danton hiring Mike as his VP of Sales and Logistics and director of the Veterans Outreach Program. Girl%27s School 4

Mike served for over 25 years in the Army as a Transportation Officer and Logistician in such  overseas places as Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Germany and stateside locations in Oklahoma, Kansas, Virginia, and Texas.  His last two assignments included the Support Operations Officer for the Afghan National Police and as the Professor of Military Science at the University of Houston.

In Perryton, TX, the senior managers of JL Bryan Equipment are actively involved in the Wounded Warrior Project. Brent Bryan, VP of JL Bryan Equipment, served in the Marine Corps as a Machine Gunner and was attached to several infantry platoons on the ground. Stationed in the Camp Lejeune, NC, Echo Co. 2nd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment, Brent was deployed to several countries including Japan, Skopje Macedonia, Kosovo, South Korea, Italy, Greece, and France for Marine Expeditionary Unit duties.

Having two veterans in the senior ranks of the companies does not make a program, however. Therefore the Tank Partners Veteran Outreach Program has set for itself three goals:

  1. The hiring of skilled veterans who have honorably separated from the military - to date six veterans have been hired.

  2. Working with veteran owned companies that process the raw materials the companies use in the manufacturing of its products.

  3. Building a partnership with corporations who also support veterans, by becoming the main manufacturer and supplier of storage tanks and vessels to those companies.
